Nicole's BioI have my Master of Fine Art, a terminal degree, in studio Painting and Drawing; with a minor in Fiber Art from the University of North Texas in Denton Texas. My BA degree was earned from Grambling State University in Grambling, Louisiana where I focused on Studio Painting and Drawing, and minored in Art History. In addition to, Public Speaking, Workshops, Seminars, Conferences, In-Service Conferences(Online), Adult Education classes, Marketing, and operating my own business. Aside from my passion for my artwork, I enjoy: Walking, Yoga, Swimming, Bike Riding, Reading, Rollerblading, Cooking (healthy), shopping, watching movies, and listening to music. My leisure time is spent by visiting Museums and Galleries, eating out with friends and family, Painting parties, visiting Cafe's, traveling, Concerts, and active volunteer work for the Make-A-Wish Foundation where I am involved with a variety of charity events. Currnetly living in the DFW area, working in my studio, and the preparing for upcoming shows. I have just returned from China, not to long ago; as a full time visiting artist/full time professor teaching Oil painting, Watercolor, Senior Portfolio Review, Mixed Media Classes, Figure Painting, and abstract concepts. In Huaihua University in Huaihua City in Hunan Province China. I was there until July 2006. I have experience in University and College settings where I have taught these courses: Art Appreciation, Painting (several levels), Watercolor, Landscape, Figure Drawing, Drawing (several levels), and Design (several levels). I am a recipient for the Hattie Mae Strong Foundation Grant located in Washington D.C., the Excel Scholarship at the University of North Texas, And also I was a semi-finalist for the Fulbright Grant (2001). I am involved with several local and national and international group shows, where I have exhibited my art work in: New York City, AGORA Gallery (Sept.-Oct 2006) Bartleson, Oklahoma (Oct.2006) Barcelona, Spain (Summer,2006) Texas, USA Pennsylvania, USA New Jersey, USA New York, USA Louisiana, USA and California USA (just to name a few). I was invited to judge several local art competitions within the DFW area on the college, and high school level. I have attended several Conferences in my career including the College Art Association, and have been active in Workshops like Learning Strategies, and Diversity in the classroom. As you may know, this past September, my work was featured and auctioned on KTEH Public television for their annual fundraiser for Public Television. The Auction was held from September 8-19 2004. There 3 works of art were advertised, and auctioned. The auction was a success. I was awarded an Artist’s Residency from the Millay Colony for the Arts located in the Hudson River Valley in New York State, where a private studio was provided which enabled me to focus in on my artwork, and paint. Later that year, Art Noir Gallery in Mount Airy Pennsylvania featured my work in a solo exhibition. I have been in a number of exhibitions the most recent was Women and Weaving in Gainesville, Texas. And a group show exhibited in Farmers Branch, Texas. My other accomplishments include: Nominations for Who’s Who in Collegiate Faculty for 2006-2007, 2006 Educator of the Year Award, and 2007 Educator of the Year Award. Publication of my art work in The William and Mary Review African Blue in issue April 2004 (from the College of William and Mary), and Surface Design Magazine. I was featured in an article “ Nicole Woodford wins Residency in New York” written by Marilyn Danforth. I am a member of the Americans for the Arts Washington, DC and Artists helping Artists California. I am a faculty mentor since 2003 for AIU Online. And Member of the Faculty Development Committee, and Academic Technology Committee. The awards I have received are: Awards: 2005 American Inter-Continental University Online. Awarded. Most Effective Lectures 2004 American Intercontinental University Online, Chicago Illinois AIU Faculty Service Award for quality of Instruction, Faculty Mentorship and Encouragement for students. 2003 American Intercontinental University Online. Chicago, Illinois AIU Online Faculty Service Award.
