Commissions

Commissions characterize an extensive liaison linking artist and client/patron; where both parties communicate and come to an agreement on a number of aspects. We will discuss the nature of the piece being made, the timetable for conclusion, authorization measures, and payment schedule. I follow these outlined steps while working with the client for commissioned work.

A. Artist and client will hold opening meetings to discuss the groundwork (ideas) and to carefully discuss the potential commission.

B. I will work out a commission proposal, including description, budgets, and preparatory sketches

C. All parties will sign a written contract specifying the work to be done and consent procedures. (for elaborate commissions these outlined steps are vital)

D. Meetings should include the people who be pleased with the final results of the work ; I will bring to the meetings:

a.Samples of my work
b.35 mm slides (and/or) DVD

E.If an intermediaries are needed I will work with them. But I will require at least 2 meetings with the client.

F.A proposal package will be developed which will include a project category,
budget, and preparatory sketches.

G. Budget, this will include:

a. My fee for the work. (which compensates me for my time, capacity, and
labors)
b. Estimated Costs of Material, plus 10 percent for cost overruns and price
Increase (if the clients are paying for the material)
c. Other expenses I will incur for which the client will pay for example rented scaffolding, rented vehicles for hauling, insurance, assistants’ fees (if needed) fabricators fees, etc…
